So when I try to turn it in either direction it does not move. Is this a common problem? What's the fix?

That damn odo is the reason I'm installing a GPS Speedo. Are you pulling down on it as you try and turn it.

Yeah I've tried pushing up, pulling down turning left, turning right, doing a rain dance. Nothing.

The Smiths ODO reset cable is a finicky little bitch. It's held in place by two cheap plastic tabs that are prone to breaking. Very delicate. If one is broken or cracked it will be just enough so that turning the knob will have no effect. Places like Nisonger can fix these but it's $$. If you ever remove your speedo (easy to do) you can then begin to understand what I'm saying.

It cost just under $200.00 to get it rebuilt from Nisonger, not including shipping and an approz 6 week turn around. The GPS from Speedhut is $299.00 plus shipping and is deadly accurate, and are reliable. Might consider that as an option.

Never reset it while moving or you are screwed!
