That one is gorgeous as well and my exact color combo reversed. Why did you sell and then rebuy. Which engine do you prefer? I sold #1416 because I was traveling extensively with my job at the time so the car was sitting too much. I just really didn't get to enjoy it as much as I should. In 4 years I put less than 5k miles on it. In 2008 I changed careers and stopped traveling. Came real close to buying an R8 but then decided I couldn't live without another Cobra. That lead to the purchase of #1867 which I have highly personalized. This cobra has 10k miles in the same 4 year span. As to engine, I actually prefer the RDI power plant. It produced about 520HP at the crank so just a tad over 400rwh. That car was incredibly drivable and was more power than I could ever drive to the limit. My Keith Craft motor produces almost 600HP at the crank so about 490rwh. The car is a torque monster with the bigger motor but I just don't think you really need it for a street car. If I put together another SPF, I would look at the Ford Racing 392 crate motor that produces 525HP. I think that would be a perfect power plant for an SPF chassis. Just my opinion......

The car is a torque monster with the bigger motor but I just don't think you really need it for a street car During my pre purchase research, it was obvious by the milages logged on the different Cobras on the market that the larger engine cars were driven less. I took location into consideration and the results were the same. I also spoke with a multiple Cobra Owner and was advised to stay at or below 500hp to keep the car drivable. My 1359 has just over 20k logged on the original 351W. At 14k, the previous Owner installed the Edlebrock top end kit to push the hp up to around 440hp. This kit pushed the torque band to a higher RPM range. My Cobra runs really well and pulls like a freight train without much concern of breaking the rear tires loose. I have been looking to move up to a stroked SB 427 to legitimize the "427 Cobra" badges. But, I am concerned that I will loose the incredible drivability that I currently have.

I have come from a lot of high horsepower cars including my 10 second quarter mile daily driver, so I think another 100 hp would be perfect giving me around 530 fwhp. I've only had one real drive in it for 20 minutes and I did stand on it a couple times. It pushes you back in the seat but not quite what I'm used to. My 4400lb CTS-V four door family sedan (the one that ran 10.7 in the quarter) would definitely beat my Cobra.

I have been looking at SB a 427 stoker pushing 460hp and 510 torque. I would look to change my 5 speed tranny to a wide ratio 4 speed top loader. The toque should push the Cobra through the gears quite nicely without breaking the tire loose at every shift. My two cents. I will definitely locate and drive a Cobra with a similar set up before doing anything. Four straight days of 75+ degree weather here for the win.

Buddy, it sounds like you have the experience to handle the HP...not all of us do.
Once the snow melts and the frost heaves settle down, I'll get back to you on the small/big block issue.
I've had the SB for 17 years, and always thought it was perfect...except for having to explain the 427 badge thing. The COX/COB cars that AC built at the end of production were 427 frame/bodies with 289 engines...they were thought by many to be the perfect road Cobra. My SPF is patterned after those cars. Shelby's favorite was a 351.
I got my BB car last November, so only got to drive a few times. That was enough to learn that it's very drivable until the secondaries kick in...then you'd better be ready for anything! Cold roads, engine, and tires my have been part of the story. This summer will tell how well I adapt to the FE. There have been a few crashes of BB cars here in NH because it's tough to recover once you lose it and the initial panic makes you over correct...and I'm not talking about novice drivers.
We've had temps in the 40's...spring may come, after all.

I raced professional in stock cars and formula dodge so I have very good car control. I also have owned 2 other SPF cars one small block and one big block. I think the 351 stroked to 427 making 550-600 would be perfect for me.

Hello everybody! I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Werner, i live in the south of Germany - in Bavaria, in a small village near Nueremberg. I'm the owner of one out of these very early prototypes. My snake is car COB 011. The car was built around 1992 and sold 1994. When I bought the car at the end of 2010, it was in really bad condition. Since that time i tried to improve it step by step. Attachments:
