Well the Nazi's on club cobra shut my poll so I thought I would post it here.
351W stroked to 392 only 450hp needs about 100 more.

I have a 351W stroked to 427 that dyno'ed at 585HP. I would much rather have the powerplant from my first SPF that was a 351W stroked to 392. It dyno'ed at 495HP and was a much more drivable and usable powerplant. Dennis Olthoff and his father Bob Olthoff both claim that anything over 400rwHP is a Cobra is a waste for 99% of the drivers.

Yeah and for an average driver I would agree. I have raced in stock cars and formula dodge and have 2 cars making over 750hp, so to me it is lacking a bit. I think 550 at the flywheel would be great!

I've got an alum Pond 427 FE punched out to 482. HAD A Roush 427 SR/TW, could not get rid of it fast enough!!!!! The 482 is about the same weight, but the torque, and the sound are in a class all by themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ask because, I feel the need for a 427 under the hood to complete the dream. But, not at the expense of the drivability that I have now. And, not having to wear ear plugs adds to my drivability. I have a 351W with around 440 fwhp (per the previous Owner) that moves really well and does not require the use of ear plugs, even with the larger bore pipes. My car is due back to Dennis Oltoff's shop for a windshield install. I can put my car on the dyno to verify the rwhp. This could be an expensive test as ignorance is bliss.

I've had my sidepipes opened up a bit by Total Performance in Sparks, Nv. Made them quite a bit louder, and with the BB it has a very nasty sound. You know when it's coming. But cruzing inside the car, it is not that much louder that the original sound. Hell who knows maybe at 63 my hearing is shot. On cruzes, the other Cobra drivers tell me they can hear it over their cars, when I'm close to them. With a 15 lb alum. flywheel, the engine just cracks when you blip the throttle, especially during hell and toe down shifting. Hell I may even go to a set of louder Firefly pipes!!!!

I was told between 550 and 600. The engine was dyno'd over a decade ago. I am sure some of those horses have left the barn, never to return, but the engine only has a little over 6,300 miles on it. So a tune up might get them back. I get to see, and possibly pick up my car this Saturday. Will have access to all the documents at that time.

Ford Racing 347 which gives me just under 400 at the treads but 500 when the dentist opens his blue bottle. I have never driven a big block so am unable to compare however for me the small block satisfies. Cheers.
